Service Description

Aerial Yoga utilizes a silk hammock that is suspended from the ceiling to perform the poses and movements. The purpose of the hammock is to provide support through your yoga flow, while also improving flexibility and range of motion. Aerial Yoga is a different approach to Yoga because it allows you to play and interact with gravity in a different way. Because the poses are supported, it may allow work within some poses or movements that are not accessible otherwise. Spinal decompression, inversions, backbends, joint mobility are all movements that become accessible to play with in a supported way. And even though Aerial Yoga introduces an element of fun and play, it remains rooted in traditional yoga principles: Breath awareness, mindfulness, and mental calmness. The hammocks are rigged close to the ground – about low-waist height – and we stay close to or on the ground during the whole class. We will NOT incorporate climbs, wraps or drops – that’s what the Sling class is for! This is a cross between an active yoga class where we breathe through moves that strengthen us, and a restorative class where we use the hammock as another tool in your yoga toolbox – like straps, blocks and bolsters – to hold and deepen the poses…. And NOTHING beats Savasana in a hammock! *swoon* *Please note: this is *not* an Aerial Sling/Dance class. BENEFITS OF AERIAL YOGA: Improved lymphatic detoxification Spinal decompression Improved strength and flexibility Improved balance and body awareness Improved posture Improved blood circulation Better digestion Boosted brain function Lower stress levels Better sleep RECOMMENDED ATTIRE: Snug fitting pants and tshirt. NO JEWELRY IS ALLOWED ON THE HAMMOCKS AND BODY PIERCINGS SHOULD BE COVERED OR REMOVED FOR CLASS.
